8 February 2026 – 大年初二 (2nd Day of Chinese New Year)
The spirit of the Year of the Horse galloped onto the courts at WRFC for our 51st tournament, a special evening that perfectly blended the festive joy of Chinese New Year with the thrill of competitive badminton. Following the milestone celebration of our 50th event, the 51st delivered its own unique and heart-warming stories.
农历丙午年正月初二（2026年2月18日），第51届Swifties SkyFeather WU羽毛球锦标赛在一片新春喜庆中火热开打。十支队伍齐聚WRFC，以球会友，共庆新春。
本届赛事见证了两个动人的“第一次”。首次搭档的Luke & Varshan一路过关斩将，最终捧起冠军奖杯，成为首度加冕的新科冠军，并获赠极具纪念意义的Swifties定制冠军衫——这也是我们首次为冠军准备此殊荣。亚军Guru & Alston同样表现精彩，贡献多场激战。
当晚最暖心的画面属于年仅11岁的小将Dillon。他与教练Ram并肩作战，在成人赛中敢打敢拼，赢得全场掌声。赛后，所有决赛选手及Dillon都收到了寓意吉祥的新春红包🧧，为这个融合体育精神与传统佳节的夜晚画上圆满句号。

🏆 Group Stage Battles
Ten teams were divided into two groups, with all matches played with the intensity that defines our community.
Group A:
This group featured a fascinating mix of experience and new energy. The handicap system (e.g., Guru & Alston at -1, Wu & Varun at +2) kept every game competitive.
- Final Standings:
- Luke & Varshan – A dominant force, securing an impressive 4 wins.
- Guru & Alston – Strong performance with 3 wins.
- Lev & Akash – 1 win.
- Wu & Varun – 1 win.
- Jonni & Suthat
Group B:
This group was headlined by a special participant.
⚔️ Knockout Drama
The semi-finals saw the top two from each group clash:
- SF1: Luke & Varshan vs. Ramesh & Wilbert
- SF2: Guru & Alston vs. AZ & Ethan
After intense matches, it was Luke & Varshan and Guru & Alston who emerged victorious, setting the stage for a memorable final.
👑 The Final & A Night of Celebrations
The final was a showcase of skill and determination. In the end, it was the pairing of Luke & Varshan who clinched the title, becoming first-time champions of our tournament series. Their reward was the special champions’ prize: the new Swifties custom shirts, a first for our winners.
Runners-up Guru & Alston played a fantastic tournament and were deservedly recognised for their efforts.
In the spirit of 大年初二, every finalist received a festive red envelope (hongbao/ang pao) to celebrate the Lunar New Year. A special red envelope was also presented to young Dillon, celebrating not just his participation but the bright future he represents for the sport.
