Stronger Starts

We are delighted to announce that the Anglo Chinese Cultural & Sports Exchange Association has been awarded a £500 grant from the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme.

Our project, Help Children Play Badminton, came third place in the Sutton Tesco customer vote, which ran from 1st April to 30th June 2025. Across the UK, millions of Tesco customers cast their votes to support community initiatives, and we are proud that so many people in our area chose to support us.

Helping Children Through Badminton

For more than 10 years, our association has been committed to supporting families and encouraging young people to get active through sport. Badminton has always been at the heart of what we do—it’s fun, inclusive, and a fantastic way to develop skills, build friendships, and improve wellbeing.

This funding will help us to expand our Help Children Play Badminton programme, ensuring more children—whatever their background or ability—have the chance to pick up a racket, learn, and play.

Tesco Stronger Starts – A National Initiative

Tesco Stronger Starts is a nationwide programme supporting children and young people in communities across the UK.

Over the next three years, Tesco will invest £5 million to help over one million young people. The scheme is delivered in partnership with the national charity Groundwork (with greenspace scotland supporting communities in Scotland). Since its launch in 2015, Tesco and Groundwork have been working together to provide funding that makes a lasting difference in local communities.

A Big Thank You ❤️

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us in Tesco stores, and to Tesco and Groundwork for supporting community projects like ours. This grant will go a long way in helping us bring the joy of badminton to more children in Sutton.
